March 9, 2022 we present Outcast to the world, with a public release concert in Korzo in The Hague, which will be broadcasted by Dutch Radio 4. We would like to invite everyone to attend this concert. Tickets are available via: korzo.nl. We are very proud of the result and we have already received the first favorable reviews.

The concert of February 20, which was unable to take place due to storm Eunice, has been moved to March 11. Same time, same place, same program.

Now that we are allowed again, four Dutch string quartets from the original festival line-up and the String Quartet Biennale are happy to open the doors to the public. The program includes a selection from the festival program and above all very beautiful string quartet music.

When is a piece of music finished? When the composer has drawn the double bar after the last note? Or can a piece also have an 'open ending'? In the UMF edition of 2021, the focus was not on a composer, but on the works that composers were unable or unwilling to finish; ‘(Un)finished’.

In the Matangi Moments series, this work, sometimes described as 'spinal cord music' that gives you shivers, touches your soul and makes you completely different, will be a prelude to the (Un)heard Music Festival a week later in The Hague.

With the album 'Outcast' Matangi makes a case for artistic freedom and for musical expressiveness that stems from repression. With the combination of these three compositions on one CD, 'silent' resistance is poured into sound.
