Long-awaited album release and premiere of P.S. ft. Matangi & Ruben Hein

A final letter—what do you include in it? It doesn’t always have to be a farewell letter between people. It might also be a goodbye to a feeling, period, or phase of life. Rich with inspiration from this thought, Matangi and Ruben Hein took up the pen and collaboratively created a song cycle called ‘P.S.’

After 25 years of joyfully playing music in various styles and from composers around the world, Matangi felt a strong urge to embark on a completely new challenge, unusual for classically trained musicians: creating their own genre from their own compositions.

This album is the result of personal and individual contributions from five enthusiastic and curious creatives. They wrote letters to each other, composed melodies and fragments that are inextricably linked to their emotional worlds and essence. ‘P.S. ft Matangi & Ruben Hein’ is one of the gems with which Matangi celebrates its 25th anniversary. The songs explore themes of friendship, doubt, brotherly love, fear, and betrayal. They feature a contemporary eclectic sound where elements of classical, jazz, and pop music converge. The strings of Matangi and the soulful voice of Ruben Hein create a mesmerizing sound transformation that brings the deeply rooted emotions of the songs to life. This album is an extremely personal product and pays homage to the disappearing letter, which seems to have no place in today’s world.

Ga kijken!!
