Kronos' 50 FOR THE FUTURE
The String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam presents:
Kronos’ Fifty for the Future
Fifty new compositions for the string quartet - May 6th and 7th in Muziekgebouw and BIMHUIS
The American Kronos Quartet has commissioned fifty composers from all over the world to write a new string quartet. On the 6th and 7th May 2023, the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam proudly presents Kronos’ Fifty for the Future.
Kronos' Fifty for the Future came into fruition through Kronos Quartet's long standing collaboration with prominent and emerging composers. These fifty pieces reflect the rich sounds of the world, composed by some of the most relevant and up-and-coming composers of our time. Ten extraordinary quartets will perform all fifty new compositions in one weekend, a unique experience only available in Amsterdam. For those who wish, all fifty pieces can be heard during the weekend, totaling approximately eight hours of music. This is an unmissable event for lovers of the string quartet.
